Children of Men
I believe Children of Men was a good movie to watch in our class as it showed freedom, knowledge, justice and truth. It is a movie about having no children, no future and no hope. Humanity has become infertile and the last baby was born in 2009. The world has become terrorism and they have to protect the world’s only pregnant women and they travel through warfare to try and find a cure for global infertility. My favorite part was in the end when they blessed the child and everyone including the soldier’s dropped down to their knees as the baby walked out. It meant for them that there was a New Messiah and a hope for the future. Everyone thought it was a boy and they wanted to protect it because they needed it as it would grow older but it was actually a girl. A mew Eden represents fertility and the baby is a prime symbol. Theo sacrificed his life and was willing to die for the baby because he believed there was hope for a brighter future. Klee, the pregnant women, showed truth as she trusted Leo to get her and her baby safe. Klee was given a bow and vile and in that was an assistant suicide kit in case she didn’t not want to deal with being the only pregnant women. She never used it but at times I think she didn’t want to go through all the trouble and have other people get hurt. He final minutes of the movie showed justice as they all stopped shooting and let Klee and the baby walk out to safety and get onto a boat. There was no other time where there was justice. Leo showed knowledge as he knew that to do to get them to safety and knew exactly where to go. He knew that he would be sacrificing his life for a new begging and he was not afraid to do that. He ended up getting shot and killed and that shows bravery and he wanted Klee and baby to have freedom. It made me a better person because you have to look at other people’s life and realize that you are so lucky and gifted. Children of men made me think that life is not always fair and it can be far worse off like living where there is war and sacrificing your life when you a innocent person. It taught me that you cannot take things for granted as your life can change any day and its things beyond your control.
