What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word freedom? Freedom to me means that you have choices. You can do whatever you please to do within the legal limits of the law such as choosing what college you want to attend, what profession you want to go into to, or simply choosing who your friends are. I also think of the freedom our founding fathers fought for such as Freedom of Religion or Freedom of the Press. Our country was based on these freedoms.
Protesting is a way of having freedom because it is within the legal limits. People protest because they have strong feelings about specific events. They do this because they want their beliefs to become public and make their opinions heard to influence others.
Women did not have the right to vote or run for office. Nowadays, women have the Freedom to Vote and to choose who they want representing our country, city, and county. It is such a privilege to be able to vote because before, only men got the option to vote and some women may not have agreed with the men.
Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, and Freedom of Assembly are all freedoms that we have. Freedom of Religion is belief in teaching and practicing worship. You can choose to change your religion or not follow any. We have the freedom to leave a church and join a new one if we so please to do because it is one of our human rights. Freedom of speech means that we can speak about whatever we please to do. We can have our own opinions and ideas.
Choosing what college you want to attend as a senior in high school is a freedom. You are at the age where it does not matter to others where you attend because you are old enough to choose for yourself.
A soaring bald eagle is a sign of freedom because it is the national bird. It represents having freedom to do whatever you please to do. The bald eagle represents power, bravery, and courageous.
Choosing who you marry is a freedom because you do not have your parents choosing your husband for you, like some people did years ago. You have the freedom to choose whoever you want to be your husband.
Who your friends are is also a freedom because you choose what people you like or get along with. Most people chose friends that have the same interests as they do and those people are your best friends.
I choose to do my collage on freedom because in the United States we have so many freedoms that we do not realize are freedoms. Many other countries do not have all the Freedoms as we do because they have to follow the rule of a certain leader who enforces strict laws upon them limiting their freedom. Our freedoms are a gift to us and we should not take them for granted.
